The homemade Goat Milk Formula recipe is an excellent, low-allergy, easy to digest formula you can make at home. Because there are several advantages to making your own formula you may find that certain ingredients work better in your situation than others. Due to the flexibility of this recipe, you are no longer “stuck” with the manufacturers ingredients. While we don’t recommend changing the formula unless you are “sure” there is a problem ingredient, here are some of the “approved” substitutions for the homemade goat milk formula. We will be continually updating this data as new ingredients are tested and approved.
Lactose:
- organic, raw turbinado sugar
- organic maple syrup (DO NOT USE WITH DRY MIX)
- brown rice syrup
- cow milk lactose.
NOTE: Honey is not a good option as it is not recommended for babies less than 12 months old.
Goat Milk Ghee
- Virgin Coconut Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- High Oleic Sunflower Oil (La Tourangelle is a good brand)
- Avocado Oil (Chosen foods is a good brand)
Grapeseed Oil
- Hemp Seed Oil (Manitoba Harvest or Nutiva are some good brands)
Any substitutions made will be a 1:1 exchange. For example, if the recipe calls for 1 Tbsp. of Lactose, you will use 1 Tbsp. of the above substitutions.
Some brand recommendations are made as suggestions. You may choose to go with another high quality brand.
